The Ascent

For young teens entering 6th-8th grades.

The journey from youngsters to young adults is often a crazy experience! Our middle school camp staff seeks to make a positive impact on the hearts and minds of middle schoolers as they endeavor to define themselves as followers of Jesus Christ and grow in their relationship with Him. This is just one of the goals of this Christian church camp experience. This summer, come explore what it means to have your world flipped upside down in an amazing way through a personal relationship with Jesus!

Set in an exhilarating Western Colorado alpine setting, participants are nurtured in the exploration of their Christian faith in a structured, supervised setting, where the ratio is 7 to 8 campers to 2 counselors. Middle schoolers like to do things in groups with their friends, and attending Camp together with friends is welcome and encouraged!

This year’s theme is: “flipped” and we’ll be focusing on how God (through the scripture) takes what the world tells us and flips it upside down, to reveal the TRUTH!
This year’s verse is: Isaiah 55:8:9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, niether are your ways my ways declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Mornings will include Chapel time and small-group cabin discussion time, facilitated by the Cabin Leader. Lunch will be followed by group games, activities, and lighthearted team challenges. Free time later in the afternoon can include boating, playing “jug” or other crazy camp games, hiking, playing guitars, participating in group activities like volleyball or basketball, or just hanging out with your friends. Evening campfires are a chance to sing, worship, share and grow while taking in the breathtaking night sky.

Special Events: the Flipper Water Race, Sponge Launch, Water Balloon Dodge Ball, a Movie Night, Art Afternoon, and a crazy night game.
Banquet Theme: Flipped! This year we invite you to dress casual, emphasis on the “flip flops.” Flannel Fest!

Special Note: Bring warm clothes and layers – with snow levels, it’s bound to be cold, especially in the evenings. Clothes NOT appropriate for camp include: any clothing where one’s undergarments show, short shorts, cut-off t-shirts where one’s torso shows, spaghetti strap tank tops, sheer or low-cut shirts, stretch /yoga pants without respectful coverage of one’s midsection, and any clothing with symbols/language that doesn’t honor God.
Bring flashlights and dark clothing for the night game, and hiking clothes for the hike.
Check in is 3pm on Sunday. Camp ends after brunch on Thursday, when we’ll share a final worship together.
