Reflections, Gratitude and Anticipation: Family Camp 2016

How wonderful it is for my wife Bonnie and me to leave the hot valleys to go up to the cool Spruce-Fir forests of the Lake Country of the Great Grand Mesa. There we were able to fellowship, eat, study, and worship with many of our Christian brothers and sisters. My reaction to the camp is one of home-coming because my wife and I have spent so much time at the camps over the years.

As we drive into the camp parking lot we experience all the sights and sounds of one of the most beautiful areas on God’s earth. Here we live among the forest animals, watch trout jump in the beautiful sub-alpine lake that borders the camp, boat on the lake, take part in the games, the campfires, the lakeside worship services, hiking the forest trails, boating, fishing, and meeting with Christian friends that we may not have seen since last year’s camp.

We’re looking forward to great experiences at the 2016 Family Camp. This year we are currently in the final stages of planning what is shaping up to be one of the best family camps ever.

Bruce and Lynette Talbott and their helpers will return again to provide great food for this summer. Note: Lots of great sharing occurs in the dining hall during the meals.

One great contribution of Family Camp is that of introducing our young children, and grandchildren to the camp and to the camp environment while under the care of their parents or grandparents. Then when they are old enough to attend the elementary, middle school, or high school camps they will already be looking forward to the camp experiences. We now know that a major value of Family Camp is creating life-long Grand Mesa Campers.

We are thankful for God’s blessings, and for all of you who have participated in making these camps happen.
